Listing Rules
These rules apply to every advert submitted to HatchFinder. They are intended to keep adverts accurate, lawful and useful for buyers while protecting the welfare of birds.
Last updated: August 2026Before submitting an advert
By submitting an advert, you confirm that you have read and accepted these rules. HatchFinder may reject, suspend or remove adverts and accounts that do not follow them.
Accurate adverts
All information included in an advert must be honest, accurate and current.
Breeders must clearly state:
- The bird species and breed or variety
- The number of eggs included
- The total advertised price
- The freshness or maximum age of the eggs
- Current availability
- Collection, delivery or postage options
- Any fertility information included in the advert
Adverts must be updated, paused or removed when the eggs are no longer available or the information has materially changed.
Hatching and fertility
Hatching eggs cannot be guaranteed to be fertile or to hatch successfully.
Breeders may include genuine recent fertility results, but those results must not be presented as a guarantee applying to the eggs in the advert.
Where fertility results are provided, the breeder should explain when and how they were checked.
Photographs
Photographs must accurately represent the eggs, parent birds or breeding group connected to the advert.
Breeders must not:
- Use misleading stock photographs
- Copy another breeder’s photographs without permission
- Misrepresent the breed, colour, condition or parent stock
- Upload inappropriate, graphic or unrelated images
HatchFinder may request additional photographs or information before approving an advert.
Bird health and welfare
Breeders must not knowingly advertise eggs from birds showing signs of infectious disease or kept in seriously unsuitable conditions.
Breeding, keeping, transportation and sale arrangements must comply with applicable animal-health and welfare requirements.
HatchFinder may reject or remove an advert where there are reasonable concerns about welfare, disease, fraud or public safety.
Legal and permitted listings
Only lawful hatching-egg adverts may be submitted.
The breeder is responsible for ensuring they are legally permitted to keep, breed, advertise, transport and sell the species shown.
Listings involving protected, restricted, illegally imported or unlawfully kept birds are prohibited.
Prices and charges
The advertised price must be the total price for the stated number of eggs.
Postage, delivery, packaging or other charges must be made clear before the buyer agrees to proceed.
Breeders must not use false or misleading prices simply to attract enquiries.
Communication
Initial contact between buyers and breeders should take place through the HatchFinder messaging system.
Public adverts and profiles must not be used primarily to redirect users to WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or another external marketplace.
Users may privately exchange reasonable collection, delivery, payment and contact information while arranging a transaction.
Abusive, threatening, discriminatory, fraudulent or persistently unwanted messages are prohibited.
Payment and fulfilment
HatchFinder is an advertising and messaging platform. HatchFinder does not sell the eggs and does not process or hold transaction payments between buyers and breeders.
The buyer and breeder are responsible for agreeing:
- The final price
- The payment method
- Collection, delivery or postage arrangements
- Packaging and dispatch dates
- Refund or replacement arrangements
- Any other terms of their transaction
Postage and collection
Breeders offering postage must use suitable packaging and explain when the eggs are expected to be dispatched.
Breeders must not claim that posted eggs are guaranteed to arrive fertile or hatch successfully.
Exact home addresses should not be published in adverts. Collection details should be shared privately after suitable arrangements have been made.
Multiple and duplicate adverts
Breeders must not repeatedly submit identical, misleading or unnecessary duplicate adverts.
Separate adverts may be used for genuinely different breeds, quantities or availability, but must not be used to manipulate search results.
Moderation
New adverts are reviewed before publication.
HatchFinder may reject, edit, suspend or remove an advert that:
- Breaks these listing rules
- Appears misleading, inaccurate or incomplete
- Raises animal-welfare or disease concerns
- Contains prohibited public contact details or links
- Has received credible complaints
- Creates a risk to users or to HatchFinder
Reporting concerns
Users should report suspicious adverts, misleading claims, abusive messages or animal-welfare concerns using the reporting tools or by contacting HatchFinder.
Serious fraud, animal-welfare or legal concerns may also need to be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Your agreement
By submitting an advert, the breeder confirms that:
- The advert is accurate and current
- They have the right to advertise the eggs
- They will comply with these listing rules
- They understand HatchFinder may moderate or remove adverts
- They understand serious or repeated breaches may result in account suspension
